Release Date:

The City of Pendleton was recognized as an Outstanding Member Agency by Oregon Association of Clean Water Agencies (ACWA) for Energy Leadership. The Energy Leadership award is for the Cities total green energy effort.

ACWA chose to recognize Pendleton because we have had green energy projects that include:

  • Solarize Pendleton which found a way to loan monies for solar installations to commercial and residential property owners;
  • Hydroelectric projects that recover energy from the Cities drinking water system;
  • A combined heat and power (CHP) project at the wastewater treatment plant using methane from the waste break down process.
  • Also, a grease receiving station will help the CHP project reach its full potential and help keep grease out of our sewers.
